Fear and despair are blood brothers,
incestuous, they feed off one-another
wrapped in a tight embrace,
writhing intimately within the the guts of reason,
their loving spasms cause lesions
fluids that should never mix allow a slow death
as new parasitic horrors are spawned
delighting like maggots in the entrails of the stricken soul
There are times when the only thing to do is to sink lower
embrace the ooze thats seeping through the seams
let it numb the senses and pollute the passions
drink it up and let it take over
admit defeat of the will, submit to the weakness of my mind
that tin knight, that charlatan who claims to be my guardian
with his fake shine and clarity, claiming to have dominion over my fate
I have seen his armor fail, buckle, fall and crash
Perhaps if I submerge my self deep enough
dive down through the strata of primordial ooze
sink into the darkness of cliche and self abnegation
abandon this token resistance
there will be another world beneath it all
a place I can grow larger than I am
find the fire dampened by these stowaways
and cauterize the decay
As usual I love your poetry :)
ReplyDeleteFew questions though:
1) You differentiate between fear and despair, but you don't say why.
2) You use the word "ooze" twice and also twice in sentences that have the world "sink" in them, is this deliberate and what are you trying to do say in both cases? Are they related somehow?
3) Why don't you write more poetry? I mean seriously! You just don't love me enough to write more poetry :P

P.S. Write more poetry.

1. Well, they are two different words that while are intimately related are not the same, otherwise why have two separate words?
ReplyDelete2. Did I mention I tend to write these things, give them a quick read, then post them, I obviously need to come back and reconsider these things, and that is why you are here, to point them out to me.
3. Emotional blackmail never goes out of style... <3
I will endeavor to write more poetry
